We brought together all the articles that described the barriers and facilitators to implementing evidence-based guidelines in long-term care. We then mapped the barriers and facilitators onto the Behaviour Change Wheel to make theory-informed recommendations for knowledge translation strategies. We found that future strategies should target physical and social opportunity and psychological capability, and include interventions like environmental restructuring, training, and education.
