Our research team is proud to celebrate two significant academic achievements by congratulating one of our Master’s students and one of our PhD students on the successful defence of their theses.

Master’s Defence

Congratulations to Jasmine Friedrich Yap on the successful defence of her Master’s thesis, Adapting Current Fracture Prevention Guidelines to Home Care Settings in Canada.

Her research explored how existing fracture prevention guidelines can be adapted to better support individuals receiving care in home care settings across Canada. By addressing the unique challenges and opportunities within home-based care, this work contributes valuable insights toward improving fracture prevention strategies and supporting healthier aging in the community.

The successful defence reflects Jasmine’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to advancing research that has meaningful implications for clinical practice and patient care.

PhD Defence

We also extend our congratulations to Dr. Michael Ibekaku on the successful defence of his doctoral dissertation, Co-Creating a Contextually Appropriate Physical Activity Program for Dementia in Nigeria: A Multi-Method Study.

This research focused on developing a culturally relevant and contextually appropriate physical activity program for people living with dementia in Nigeria. Using a multi-method approach and emphasizing co-creation with key stakeholders, the study contributes important knowledge to global dementia care. It highlights the importance of developing interventions that reflect local needs, resources, and perspectives.

The successful completion of this doctoral research represents years of scholarly dedication and makes a significant contribution to the fields of dementia care, physical activity, and global health.
